New Report Finds Progress in Black Tech Pipeline is Now Regressing

*Despite several years of lofty commitments and significant pledges to diversify the tech industry, not only has development not been built but in some instances, prior gains have been undone, according to a new report from the non-gain Kapor Center and the NAACP.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t shock me,” Rachel Goins, Director of Implementation at the Kapor Centre and a co-writer of State of Tech Diversity: The Black Tech Ecosystem, explained to The Plug.

The report discovered that funding inequities in secondary and postsecondary instruction, deficiency of entry to preparatory State-of-the-art Placement courses in significant university and insufficient broadband infrastructure all are hurdles for pupils.

In 2020, HBCUs — which signify just a few per cent of U.S. schools — ended up dependable for graduating 10 % of Black pc science majors, according to the report.
