Successful a silver medal at the nationwide SkillsUSA Championships was exciting for Tulsa Tech-Sand Springs graduate Brianna Ziegler, but it was not as rewarding as experience like she’s earning excellent career decisions at a youthful age.

Ziegler, who graduated from Tulsa Tech in May possibly and Charles Page Large Faculty in 2021, been given the silver medal in graphic communications in June at the nationwide showcase of occupation and specialized schooling in Atlanta.

Ziegler, who had taken some graphics-associated programs in substantial university, said she “didn’t rather know what I needed to do — some thing with art, but the exact route wasn’t acknowledged.”

Then she fulfilled with Ron Hurt, a graphics and imaging instructor at Tulsa Tech, and the route turned very clear.

In fact, she said, it was through her link with Hurt that Ziegler landed the position at AlphaGraphics.

At nationals previous thirty day period, students competed in five segments, together with digital press procedure, a simulation for an offset press and a mock job interview.

“It was just a seriously great encounter,” mentioned Ziegler, who competed in the post-secondary category.

A whole of 1,150 gold, silver and bronze medals had been offered to pupils June 24 at the SkillsUSA awards ceremony, in which they read from keynote speaker Darren Keefe of HGTV.

Medalists also obtained a Talent Level Certificate symbolizing workplace readiness in the student’s occupational specialty. The certificate can be extra to the student’s employment portfolio.

Ziegler is happy to be creating her employment portfolio at these kinds of a younger age, while she intends to remain wherever she is for the minute.

“I might move on eventually, but for now, I want to see what sort of doors this is heading to open up,” she said.
