Privileges of the Smallest Computer Systems

With the advancement in the field of technology over the years, the size of the computers has decreased to a great extent as compared to that of the computers which existed a decade ago. In the earlier days, the only option for a person to buy computer was the desktop computer in which the CPU, monitor, keyboard etc were different parts and had to be assembled together in order to form a desktop computer. but nowadays with the advancement in the technology, a person can buy a laptop or a tablet PC which has CPU, monitor, keyboard and mouse in once single machine only.

The size of the components in the laptops and the tablet computers have also been reduced to a great level. The size of the components in a laptop is generally smaller than the components that are present in a desktop computer. Tablet PCs comes under the category of the smallest computer systems that have been invented so far along with mini computers and handheld devices. Tablet PCs are used to combine the functionality of a smart phone along with a laptop or a desktop computer. People can use them for various purposes like businessmen can carry them almost anywhere for their work and an artist can use a tablet pc for drawing some complex art.

Mini computers also fall under the category of smallest computer systems which have been invented till date. A mini computer is a very powerful computer which can be compared to a mainframe or a supercomputer. A mini computer is a computer system which can handle many users at a single point of time. Mini computers are usually smaller in size as compared to a desktop computer but can handle many users at the same time. They usually run a multi core CPU system so that they can handle several tasks at the same time.

Smallest computer systems also include devices like netbooks and PDAs. Netbooks are machines which are similar to laptops but are much lighter in weight and much faster than a normal notebook. The components embedded into the netbook are much more advanced and fast than those present in a normal laptop. Small computers are very easy to carry to almost any place where a person goes and hence the person can do his work where ever he goes. The portability provided by small computers has helped people to resume their work from almost any part of the world without the loss of any data.

But due to the portability provided by these small computers, the people have become lazy. Moreover, the prices of the smallest computers are also very high and hence everybody cannot afford these small computers which are available in the market. Moreover, these small computers are battery operated and it is quite possible that the battery of the smallest computer would be out in the midst of a critical task running on the computer. in that case the progress of the whole task would be lost which would not happen in case of a desktop computer.
